Shrieeek!!!! It's all in the spin.

Blob Blogging Wingnut often re-posts propaganda pieces from Lies-Site at HER place.

Facts about public events and occurrences tend to get varnished, twisted and distorted by The Fetus©™ fetishists in their attempt to provoke outrage and to get a good chorus of shriEEEks going.

That nifty little tactic was certainly on display as the zygote zealots milked the
shooting death of Jim Pouillon as much as they could. SUZIE CAPS-ON even promoted the notion that Pouillon should be nominated for sainthood. Umm, yeah. Right up there with the white-washing canonization of Pius XII, it would seem.

Here's a recent example that occurred at Southwestern Women's Options.

The basic elements of the story are: a couple accompanying their adolescent daughter to a women's clinic were called out by anti-abortion activists. The patient and her parents went inside the building. The father then came out to tell the activists that he would act forcefully to protect his daughter and wife if they were approached again when they left the clinic. The activists claimed that he threatened to shoot one of them. Operation Rescue volunteers phoned police and said that they saw what they assumed to be a gun. The police arrived, took the man into custody and because they could not find a weapon upon him - as Operation Rescue volunteers claimed - proceeded to search the premises of the clinic. Firearms were eventually found locked in the vehicle owned by the father. No charges have been filed, pending a completed investigation of the event.

Compare these versions of the event, fed by Operation Rescue truthiness. It starts with the headline. In fact the father was not 'arrested', nor charged.

Here is a reality-based account.

My prediction is that Operation Rescue will exploit this tactic - claiming that they have been threatened by people accompanying patients to clinics, or by patients themselves. Given the US anti-abortion movement's history in promoting and supporting homicidal actions against medical staff, police have zero tolerance for any kind of perceived or real threat of violence around Planned Parenthood and other women's clinics. I expect that zygote zealots will report that they thought they saw a gun/knife/bomb and claim they were threatened in order to get the police to sweep down upon the location.

How many times will they pull such stunts before they get charged with mischief and sent the bill for abusing police resources?

Lying Liars' Latest Stunt: Fake Clinic Escorts

No shit. From Feministing:
The blogger at Everysaturdaymorning, a pro-choice clinic escort in Louisville, KY, has posted pictures and video of the latest disgusting tactic from the antis outside their clinic: wearing fake escort vests.

Escorts wear bright orange vests that say things like "Pro-Choice Clinic Escort" in an attempt to clearly identify ourselves to patients. Even so, the space outside a clinic where anti-choicers have gathered can be incredibly confusing for patients, those accompanying them, and even passers by on the street. Some protesters simply stand off to the side and pray. I don't like the atmosphere of shame they create, but it's the antis we call chasers or sidewalk stalkers who cause the biggest problems. They will do almost anything to harass people going in and out of a reproductive health clinic, which is why pro-choice escorts are necessary - we're not protesters, we're just trying to make it possible for women to access abortion and other medical care. Interactions happen so quickly, and the milieu outside a clinic can be so confusing for someone who didn't expect to be harassed by ideologues on her way to the doctor, that we already have to work hard to make it clear who works with the clinic and who is trying to get in a patient's way.

Yes, the vests these antis are wearing say "Life Escort." Which, I am sure, is not an attempt to accurately identify themselves. They know what a baffling mess they create, and they know the word "Life" is unlikely to be read until after they've forced a patient to listen to them, if at all.

Go see the photos and video here.

I didn't watch the video but there's a transcript at Feministing. The stalker starts off with 'We don't know you but we love you'.

I've seen other vids of the circus these anti-abortion harassers create. People yelling in gooey baby voices: 'Mummy, don't kill me! Mummy, I love you.'

I remember vividly how I felt entering once a clinic and once a hospital -- jangled, worried, nervous. There were no sidewalk harassers then. No one shouting bullshit at me. No one trying to shove lying pamphlets at me. I had absolutely no fear of anyone I knew recognizing me. And I was perfectly clear in my mind that what I was doing was right.

Imagine being young, ignorant, in a conservative place, scared of being recognized, and being forced to run such a gauntlet.

Imagine further that the woman knows something of the lying liars' tactics should she be identified, like receiving red-paint smeared children's birthday cards every year for fucking years.

I so admire clinic escorts, the real ones. Calm, dedicated, kind people who put up with this crap over and over and over. Truly loving people who only care about the woman they're shielding.

I could not do it. I would lose my temper and paste one of harassers. And the lying liars would go batshit over 'pro-abortion violence'.

Love. *ptui* These assholes know nothing about it.

WANTED posters. Again.

They don't learn. From Ms.Magazine, 'Wanted' posters appear in Charlotte, NC.
The posters have the word “WANTED” in large black letters at the top and contain the following language: “We would like to introduce you to Drs. X and Y [names withheld here]. Their specialties are Obstetrics, Gynecology and Murder. Not only do these two men assist women and deliver babies, but they also harm women and kill babies…. You may contact them at their office or the clinic in which they perform the abortions.”

Using the real names of the doctors, and the addresses of their private practices, these posters have recently shown up in Charlotte, N.C. They are terrifying, and that is precisely their intention, as they invoke comparison to the notorious Old West-style wanted posters of abortion doctors that were circulated by two militant anti-abortion groups in the early 1990s. Three abortion-providing doctors—whose faces appeared on WANTED or unWANTED posters were, in fact, murdered by anti-abortion zealots.

In a celebrated case, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit held that these posters constituted a “threat of force” designed to intimidate abortion providers (in violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances, or FACE Act), and were thus not protected by the First Amendment on free speech grounds. The Court also noted that extremists had listed the doctors’ information, including home addresses, on a “Nuremberg Files” website. The names of doctors who were killed were lined through in black, and wounded doctors’ names were lined through in grey.

So one can imagine the fears engendered by this latest round of postering. But they’re just the latest straw in what the beleaguered staff of the Family Reproductive Health clinic in Charlotte has had to put up with. In 2002, the high-profile antiabortion extremist Philip “Flip” Benham, formerly head of Operation Rescue and now heading Operation Save America, moved to the Charlotte area and vowed to close down Family Reproductive Health.

The Ms. piece includes a link to a video of the harassment at the clinic. I'm not embedding it, because it's horrible. The appropriately named Flip Benham bellows lies and death threats including 'Satan will drink the blood of your child'.

Why do we call these anti-abortion harassers misogynists? Dig this from the Wiki link:
In a 2006 interview with Al Gross of KJSL-AM in suburban St. Louis, during the morning drive-time program "Mornings with Tim and Al", Benham stated he would let a daughter die rather than abort an ectopic pregnancy. When pressed on the question by Gross and an on-air telephone caller, Benham backed down and grudgingly admitted he would allow an abortion under such a circumstance.

Not just a fetus fetishist . . .

That's a photo of Troy Newman, of Operation Rescue, from a collection of YouTubes by JaguarJ0nes, an abortion clinic escort.

It's at about the 1:30 mark. The clinic escorts had brought out some plastic speculums to bang together to drown out the noise made by the anti-abortion harassers. Troy Newman became so utterly fascinated with the speculum that he wanted to buy one. The narrator says: 'I'm not sure what he wanted to do. I'll let you figure that out.'

What do you think? Medical-instrument fetish? Medical-instruments-associated-with-lady-parts fetish?

Or?

Ratzy vs. the Nuns

So, did you hear the one about the Catholic nun who volunteers as an escort at an abortion clinic?

No, really.
Local pro-life activists say that they recognized the escort at the ACU Health Center as Sr. Donna Quinn, a nun outspokenly in favor of legalized abortion, after seeing her photo in a Chicago Tribune article.

SHRIEEEEEK!

She's in favour of legalized abortion, but why would she act as an escort?
Sr. Patricia Mulcahey, OP, Quinn's Prioress at the Sinsinawa Dominican community, said in an email response to LSN that the nun sees her volunteer activity as "accompanying women who are verbally abused by protestors. Her stance is that if the protestors were not abusive, she would not be there."

So, in the opinion of a Catholic nun, the abortion-clinic stalkers are not the peaceful, prayerful 'witnesses' they claim to be. They're abusers.

Sr. Donna Quinn is a member of the National Coalition of American Nuns (NCAN), an interesting group, in favour not only of abortion, but of female ordination.

Which brings us to a recent article that Maureen Dowd is taking some crap over. It's called 'The Nuns' Story'.
In 2004, the cardinal who would become Pope Benedict XVI wrote a Vatican document urging women to be submissive partners, resisting any adversarial roles with men and cultivating “feminine values” like “listening, welcoming, humility, faithfulness, praise and waiting.”

Nuns need to be even more sepia-toned for the über-conservative pope, who was christened “God’s Rottweiler” for his enforcement of orthodoxy. Once a conscripted member of the Hitler Youth, Benedict pardoned a schismatic bishop who claimed that there was no Nazi gas chamber. He also argued on a trip to Africa that distributing condoms could make the AIDS crisis worse.

The Vatican is now conducting two inquisitions into the “quality of life” of American nuns, a dwindling group with an average age of about 70, hoping to herd them back into their old-fashioned habits and convents and curb any speck of modernity or independence.

Nuns who took Vatican II as a mandate for reimagining their mission “started to look uppity to an awful lot of bishops and priests and, of course, the Vatican,” said Kenneth Briggs, the author of “Double Crossed: Uncovering the Catholic Church’s Betrayal of American Nuns.”

The church enabled rampant pedophilia, but nuns who live in apartments and do social work with ailing gays? Sacrilegious! The pope can wear Serengeti sunglasses and expensive red loafers, but shorter hems for nuns? Disgraceful!

One of the two Vatican inquisitions investigations is on general 'quality of life' of American nuns and one is specifically on the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, a benign-looking outfit -- as opposed to those radical feminuns in NCAN -- that claims to represent 95% of American nuns.

Ah, the Mother Church and its psychosis over actual women.

MASSIVE DUOP Turnout

Forty days of Harassment is on!

Today, I passed the women's clinic on Gerrard, one of two targets in Toronto, twice by streetcar. At about 12:30, two dried-up old prunes (DUOPs), one male, one female. About 3:30, one DUOP, male. I wasn't paying enough attention to be able to say whether it was the 12:30 DUOP.

MASSIVE turn-out. :p

Perversion

USian fetus fetishists are congratulating themselves on their efforts to impede, infantilize, patronize, and stigmatize women seeking legal abortions.
Americans United for Life (AUL) today released their 2009 State Legislative Session Report. This year's report confirms that the majority of states continue to successfully pursue and implement a life-affirming legislative agenda.
. . .
According to the report, several notable and promising developments and trends emerged in 2009:

* Approximately 60 life-affirming measures were enacted in 2009, a substantial increase from 2008 activity levels.

* The states considered approximately 300 abortion-related measures, the vast majority of them life-affirming, and virtually every state considered at least one pro-life measure.

* Several states introduced resolutions opposing the federal Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), radical legislation that would enshrine abortion-on-demand into American law and override all federal and state laws regulating or restricting abortion. Meanwhile, attempts in five states to enact a state version of FOCA were handily defeated.

* Further, states continued to seek to protect the unborn in contexts other than abortion by enacting protections for unborn victims of violence, encouraging substance abuse treatment for pregnant woman, and providing legal recourse for families whose unborn children are killed through the criminal acts or neglect of others.

* Measures to regulate biotechnologies and to prohibit or restrict technologies that destroy nascent life increased by nearly 20% -- the first increase in such legislation in three years.

* For the first time in three years, measures to protect conscience outpaced measures to violate or compel conscience by a margin of 2 to 1.

Full report here.

Among the 300 abortion-related meddlings were all the usual hoops and hurdles: 'personhood' (fertilized egg = person) legislation, bans on various types of abortion (because state legislators all have medical degrees and know more than any woman's doctor), parental notification/consent laws, rigorous reporting regulations for providers, mandatory ultrasounds, mandatory waiting periods, funding for Crisis Pregnancy Centres (a.k.a., lying, manipulative, guilt-trippers), and so on and so on and so on.

One of my fave manoeuvres is 'informed consent' legislation. The Guttmacher Institute says that 33 states have such laws, but only 10 of them incorporate correct medical information. The other 23 states use bullshit to attempt to guilt or scare women out of abortion.

('Information' is also the ruse invoked by sidewalk counsellors abortion clinic harassers.)

Thing is -- as Antonia Zerbisias reports in a blogpost titled Brute Force -- such measures don't work.

She quotes a policy review from the Guttmacher Institute (I'm bolding the same bit she did):
Providing women information specifically geared to dissuading them from having an abortion is a perversion of medical ethics in general and the informed consent process in particular. But no matter how well-worn the tactic, it does not appear to be effective in its purported goal of materially reducing the number of procedures performed. In fact, there is no persuasive evidence that state abortion policies aimed, in one way or another, at talking women out of an abortion stop large numbers of women from having them. At most, there is some indication from the data that erecting substantial, direct roadblocks in the path of women seeing an abortion -- such as denying Medicaid subsidies to poor women or requiring women to make two separate trips to a facility to receive in-person counseling, and then wait 24 hours before the abortion —- may have that result.

Wow. Imagine that. Women making up their own minds and sticking with their decisions.

And another wow. 'Direct roadblocks' on the other hand may work.

Something to think about as fetus fetishists across North America assemble outside women's clinics for their 40 Days of Harassment starting today: what those perverts are doing may be intimidating, but ultimately it is FUTILE.

Michigan Murders: More Update

This story just keeps getting sadder.

The accused, Harlan Drake, now back in prison after a suicide attempt, was involved in a fatal highway accident, an event which may illuminate his current mental state.
In October 2004, Drake was driving north on U.S. 63 in Ottumwa when he crashed into a two-door Pontiac Firebird driven by a 16-year-old boy, according to a report by the Iowa State Patrol.

The teen driver was turning left off southbound U.S. 63 and didn't yield to Drake's semitruck, the report said. Two passengers in the Firebird, ages 15 and 16, were killed.

"I remember it. The kids pulled right in front of him," Ottumwa police Lt. Tom McAndrew said Friday. "It's a four-lane in the middle of Ottumwa and has heavy traffic. There have been some serious wrecks there."

Jerry Angle, now retired from the Iowa State Patrol, recalled going to the scene and finding Drake "really upset. He was broke up bad."

"They still stick flowers on the corner there," Angle said. "There was nothing awry on the trucker's part. It was bad judgment by a young driver."

So, maybe the exploitation of ugly, gory, fake abortion photos to high-schoolers by a fake anti-abortion harasser, you know, set someone who had witnessed actual death of actual high-schoolers off.

Who ya gonna believe?

The man's son or a fetus-fixated freak?
Dr. James M. Pouillon, a Grand Rapids podiatrist who had not spoken to his father since 2001, criticized him and the attention he's getting in a post on a story about Harlan Drake, the man accused of killing Pouillon's father, James L. Pouillon, on Sept. 11.

The whole nation is debating if Pouillon was a martyr. Here is what the younger Pouillon had to say in an mlive.com post on mlive.com on Sept. 13:

"It will be impossible for some to believe, but my dad really didn't care about aborton.

He did this to stalk, harass, terrorize, scream at, threaten, frighten, and verbally abuse women. He had a pathologic hatred of women: his mom, my mom, everyone.

After my mom finally left him and he lost his favorite punching bag the violence and abuse that was always contained within our 4 walls was unleased on the people of Owosso.

My dad used the pro-life movement and 1st Amendments foundations to defend him, support him, and enable him. He fooled them all.

He was at the high school because my niece was there, and female family members were always his favorite targets.

Again, my dad didn't care about abortion. He wanted to hurt people, upset people. He enjoyed making people suffer.

His goal was to be shot on a sidewalk. His goal was to make someone so angry, to make them feel so terrorized, to make them feel the only way they could make him stop was to kill him.

His pro-life stance was the most perfect crime I personally know of. He hid behind the 1st Amendment and was allowed to stalk, terrorise, harass, be obsene, ect. These things are crimes. Offending people isn't a crime, and having different political views isn't a crime, but he committed several crimes over the last 20 years and got away with it.

Yes I really am his oldest son. Owosso is now rid of a mad man."

Gee. Remind you of anybody?

Oh yeah. This guy.

Pro-life, my ass. Violently anti-woman is more like it.

Michigan Murders Update

Harlan Drake, the man accused in the two nutty Michigan murders, has been taken to hospital.
A prosecutor says the man accused of fatally shooting an abortion protester and business owner here has been taken from jail to a hospital Saturday with a self-inflicted wound to his arm.

Shiawassee County Prosecutor Randy Colbry said Saturday that Harlan Drake suffered "a serious gash" after cutting his arm near the wrist but was expected to recover.

Colbry said he doesn't know exactly when Drake cut himself or what he used to do so. Colbry says Drake was taken to a hospital for surgery.

So, while speculation as to motive is still running rampant, it seems clear to me that the guy is seriously disturbed. Shooting a handicapped man in front of a highschool with a bunch of kids around is not rational behaviour. (Neither is protesting abortion with gory signs in front of a highschool rational behaviour, IMO.)

Remember, there was a third murder planned. The scenario involving Drake's going postal, killing three people, then himself is looking more likely.

OK, now the Forced Pregnancy Gang will SHRIEEEEK that the feminazis are invoking the 'lone maniac' theory when clearly this guy acted on decades of lies, harassment, threats, and overheated rhetoric from the pro-choice side targetting handicapped anti-abortion protesters.

Yeah. Right.

(BTW, if you haven't seen a photo of Drake, there's one at the Detroit News link. It's worth a click.)

Let's let the dust settle

There are some conflicting reports on whether today's shooting of two men in Michigan was abortion-related or not.

The New York Times says yes.
Prosecutors said the suspect, who is 33, singled out Mr. Pouillon because he disapproved of the victim’s protests in front of children at the school.

“There was some displeasure with how open he was,” said Sara Edwards, the chief assistant prosecutor for Shiawassee County. “He tended to carry big signs with very graphic pictures of fetuses.”

But AP in a story posted just over half an hour ago says not.
Although authorities didn't specifically say that Pouillon was targeted for his anti-abortion views, his death was the latest high-profile shooting of a person involved in the abortion debate. On May 31, abortion provider George Tiller was shot to death in his Kansas church.

I want to hear from the man in custody himself or his lawyer speaking for him.

Martyr or Zealot?

The Flint Journal interviewed a man who knew one of the two men shot today in Owosso, Michigan. The anti-abortion one, not the other one, the gravel company owner, whose views on abortion are as yet unpublished.

In fact, the man interviewed had known the anti-abortion guy for most of his life and worked with him at the Buick plant in Flint. He saw him outside the school -- and WTF is up with protesting abortion at a highschool? -- twice this week and heard that he'd been there all week.
"He was the kind of guy, well, if you want to say he was kind of radical, to do the things he was doing, with the demeanor he had to display the fetus on this big, full-color signs, you had to be a little radical. He's been all over the state protesting. He was committed."

Decaire said he would talk to Pouillon "from time to time," generally about their days in the shop.

"But he always had his abortion sign with him. He was known as 'the sign guy'."

Over at LifeShite, the canonization has begun.
Occasionally, as he was doing this morning, Pouillon was known to stand near Owosso high school to discuss abortion with the students there.

Occasionally, eh? (And pssst, he probably didn't stand, since he used a wheelchair and much is being made elsewhere of his handicapped status.)

You gotta hand it to LifeShite, though. The story admits to a few warts on the guy.
Court records published by local news reports show that Pouillon has been cited on charges connected to his pro-life activities, mostly minor infringements related to property laws, many of which were dismissed. In 2000, Pouillon was found guilty for stalking - a charge Zastrow [friend and fellow anti-abortion protester] says was unjustly brought against the veteran pro-lifer.

Oh, and look who else weighs in. Operation Scumbag, one of the main enablers of Dr George Tiller's assassin.
Operation Rescue president Troy Newman told LSN that Pouillon, who participated in Operation Rescue, was a "dear friend" and "always an encourager."

All the usual suspects are lining up to play martyr. Hop over to JJ's to read about the fetus fetishists' 'news conference'.

Cue the SHRIEEEEEEKING

Grab a pair of these because the SHRIEEEEKING is going to be deafening.

LifeShite: 'Pro-Life Advocate Murdered Outside Michigan School While Protesting Abortion!!!!!111!!!'
Local officials and state police are confirming that a pro-life advocate was shot and killed outside a high school in this Michigan town. The person, who is described as well-known but whose identity has not been released, was shot multiple times while protesting abortion outside Owosso High School.

There is apparently a second shooting that the police are investigating as possibly related. A suspect is in custody.

So, you know this is going to be spun as Just Exactly the Same as the decades-long harassment, stalking, vandalizing, wounding, and finally murder of Dr. George Tiller.

Oh, look.
Father Frank Pavone, the director of Priests for Life, has commented on the shooting in an email to LifeNews.com.

"We do not know the motive yet. But this is a time to console one
another, and to renew our determination to organize peaceful protests," he said. "It is no time for fear."

Pavone called on abortion advocates to comdemn the shooting.

This pro-choice advocate will condemn the shooting IF the accused is found to have acted on pro-choice beliefs.

Ah, looky here.
But [Business manager for Owosso Public Schools Julie] Omer stressed that police are not making any connection between his views and the shooting.

Given what we know about your average anti-abortion harasser/stalker/panty-sniffing busybody, it's not unreasonable to speculate that such a person could have pissed off any number of people around him for any number of reasons.

Or, it could just be ordinary, everyday violence in gun-crazy Excited States.

UPDATE: SUZY ALL-CAPS is 'suspicious'.
I ask myself: Why?

Why this person? Why at that time?

I hope this does not scare any pro-lifers from protesting.

Nah, if pro-liars stop protesting, it will not be on account of fear. According to HER, remember, the supply of abortion providers is NOT affected by fear of anti-abortion terrorism, but by the Stigma/Yuckiness of abortion. I should think pro-liars would quit protesting because of similar Stigma/Yuckiness/Braindeadedness of harassing vulnerable women seeking legal medical care.

UPDATE 2: Lots more info at the Detroit Free Press. The other man shot and killed was the owner of a gravel company. The 33-year-old suspect is the son of a former employee of the company. The pro-liar sounds like your typical clinic harasser.

(Edited to remove fetal porn redirect. Grow up, SUZY.)

So, do all those interfering, condescending anti-abortion measures work?

In the comments section of a blogpost by SUZY ALL-CAPS thanking gord for the new regulations that threatened abortions in private clinics in Quebec (regulations swiftly backed away from by non-politically suicidal pols), I was arguing with HER about the impact one such closure.

I said that the closure of one clinic wouldn't make any difference.

To which SHE replied:
Sure it will. It will make waiting times longer. I said so in my blog.

Longer waits mean more time to decide to carry to term. They already said in the Devoir article that the wait times are getting longer.

I argued that longer wait times just mean more later-term abortion, more stress, more cost, yadayada. SHE replied that fetus fetishists support mandatory wait times because more women decide not to abort. I asked for proof.

SHE replied that it's just common sense.

I asked again for studies or research or, you know, anything remotely fact-like, and got a totally typical fundy answer: 'You don't need studies to prove everything.'

No, maybe not. But it sure sucks when actual facty sciencey studies prove you're mostly wrong.
An analysis by Rachel Benston Gold for the Guttmacher Institute, published earlier this year, concluded that measures aimed at dissuading women from having abortions "do not appear to be effective in ... materially reducing the number of procedures performed."

She cited a review of studies by Guttmacher, Ibis Reproductive Health and Baruch College which found that such measures "by and large ... do not prevent abortions." This review called the strategy "largely unsuccessful."

One "clear exception," they concluded, was disadvantaged women, who "often don't have the resources to navigate the hurdles" imposed by such restrictions.

Parental involvement laws "do little to affect the abortion rate," this trio concluded, with one possible exception: Such laws may have contributed to an increase in the teen birth rate in Texas where teens were not able to travel the distances required to access out-of-state services.

Waiting periods, similarly, have kept some disadvantaged women from accessing abortion because the two-visit requirement has proven insurmountable to some, but have not been much of a problem for higher-income women.

Pointing to data showing that "almost all women obtaining abortions are sure of their decision ... before they have even picked up the phone to make an appointment," Gold argues it's not likely women will be swayed by "inaccurate and emotionally laden attempts to persuade them otherwise."

Martyr-gasm!

Man, but those fetus fetishists lurve themselves some martyrdom. Two days after his inalienable right to screech at clinic workers and patients appeal was dismissed by the Supreme Court, Donald David Spratt got himself arrested for the same breach of law in the same place.
Charges have now been laid against two people accused of protesting Friday outside of a Vancouver abortion clinic — and police have confirmed one of those charged is the same man who lost an appeal late last week of his jail sentence for protesting outside the same clinic in 1998.

Vancouver police announced late Saturday charges of protesting in an abortion access zone have been laid against Cecilia von Dehn, 72, and Donald David Spratt, 58. The pair were arrested outside of the Every Woman’s Health Clinic on Friday.

Spratt was arrested outside the same East Vancouver clinic in 1998 while he was carrying a large wooden cross and a sign that said “You shall not murder.” He was convicted under the B.C. “bubble zone” legislation and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Spratt has been fighting the law in the courts ever since.

And to make sure everyone is aware of his supreme sacrifice to the cause of harassing women, he 'fired off' a press release:
“The Supreme Court of Canada today announced it has denied British Columbian Don Spratt’s application to appeal his conviction and 30-day sentence for breaking B.C.’s infamous ‘bubble zone’ law,” Spratt stated. “It’s now official . . . socially conservative human rights advocates, using only speech to defend innocent and defenceless pre-born babies, can be sent off to prison.”

Smug, sanctimonious prick. Throw his martyr's ass in the pokey.
