Gem from National Pustule
[...] the National March for Life rally on Parliament Hill, which attracts approximately 20,000 abortion opponents annually.
What rubbish. If a woman must be protected from opposing points of view in order to choose abortion, then perhaps her decision was ill-considered in the first place.in response to the WTF? local pro-choice folks expressed when they learned the city had issued an official "respect for life" proclamation.

Going too far.
Most people would say praying to end abortion is harmless. But, Palmquist has other tactics as well. This week, she confronted a 14-year-old girl entering the clinic about her decision to abort her fetus. [...] while the young girl was sitting in the clinic, Palmquist sent her a text message [which] said "if you go through with this, we've named your baby Britney."

Oops! (updated)
From here:
The source for the above is New York Magazine, not The Onion.According to the AP [...] a pregnant woman will be "brought before the committee and an ultrasound image of her uterus will be projected onto a screen" with the heartbeat shown in color. Faith2Action president Janet Folger Porter says the intent is to show legislators who will be affected by the bill. If that's the case, aren't there sentient beings, like, say, the people that will have to raise it for the next eighteen years that could use actual words to testify?
What's next? Sperm testifying about how sad they are never to have made it to an egg?
If The Fetus©™ fetishists and catholic zealots BBW and John 'Sperm Holocaust' Pacheco had their way, all menstruating females would be forced to collect every single drop of their monthly flow and bring it to a government inspection station. No woman would escape the ideologically-motivated scrutiny of her reproductive apparatus, also known as the ovaries + the uterus.
Oh. Wait.
Update: my virtual roomie provided a link to pharyngula's post about those rightwingnutjobs and something jumped out at me.
Early ultrasound examinations will primarily detect the presence of the extraembryonic sac, not the embryo itself. It's too small. Around 5 weeks, you might be able to see a fuzzy small blob with a flutter that is the beating heart, but that's about it, and you do have to use transvaginal ultrasound to pick it up — that is, you have to insert the ultrasound probe deep into the vagina.
Got that? In order to get the maximum blobby F/X, the ultrasound probes would have to be inserted deep in the pregnant women's respective vaginas. No sacrifice too great for BABEEZ! it would seem. Betcha most of those male RepubliCon Ohio legislators will get their rocks off on that. In fact, that's probably why they've allowed this histrionic display.

Ça grouille
"Haldeman used the same 'not going to get the toothpaste back in the tube' analogy at the Watergate hearings to explain why they didn't get away with the Watergate break in. I just thought it fitting that while Obama quoted MLK, Steve chose a phrase made famous by a Watergate felon."If you search grouiller, "Ça grouille" on French google you'll discover many meanings, including one connected to Isabella Rossellini's Green P0rn short performance pieces. I'm posting this one as an amusing foreplay to Valentine's Day.
Can you hear The Fetus©™ fetishists, *The Pill Kills* anti-contraception RightWingNutJobs, assorted religious fundamentalist zealots and John "Sperm Holocaust" Pacheco shrieeeking?
Good.

But, but, Canada is lawless! ShriEEEkkk!!!

Margaret Somerville - their Bee Queen - got trotted out for her annual 30-second sound bite because Right-to-Lies would rather not show a frothing-at-the-mouth, knickers-in-a-knot lunatic like John "Sperm Holocaust" Pacheco as their media rep.
[...] between the two poles of a spectrum from unrestricted availability of abortion throughout pregnancy – the present situation – to prohibiting it entirely, there is a wide variety of opinion and certainly no overall consensus on any given approach.Somerville propagates many untruths and bits of truthiness in her opinion piece which is titled - in typical lying liars' fashion - "The Facts on Abortion". The quote above is typical. Medical practitioners provide the means to terminate pregnancies, which range from pharmaceutical to surgical, in the case of fetus which have ceased to develop in uterus.
There is NO "unrestricted availability" as she claims, but you can be certain that Somerville, her acolytes such as Blob Blogging Wingnut and the Vatican Taliban would enforce pregnancy as a gynophobic control over women's sexual and reproductive power if they could.
That is the purpose of Somerville's perorations.

A subtle though sulfurous stench of anti-semitism
"money-loving Jew who has sold his soul"
"There appears to be a pattern of dishonesty here."The least contentious account of the facts of the litigation case is found here.
An Ottawa fertility doctor is being sued for allegedly mixing up sperm samples and inseminating the wrong one into two of his patients.Trudy Moore launched a civil lawsuit against Bernard Norman Barwin last year after she learned that her daughter, Samantha, is not a genetic match to her husband, Matthew Guest, the statement of claim said. Recently, another woman also came forward and filed a statement of claim against Dr. Barwin.
Jacqueline Slinn found out in April that her five-year-old daughter Bridget is not a genetic match to her intended sperm donor, the statement said.
I expect in HER next screed Blob Blogging Wingnut will remind us that Doctors Barwin and Morgentaler are both pro-choice AND jews.Lawyers for two families suing a well-known Ottawa fertility doctor for allegedly using the wrong sperm samples to create their children say they believe other patients of the clinic may be in for a surprise.
Dr. Bernard Norman Barwin and the Broadview Fertility Clinic, which he owns, are the targets of two lawsuits launched in Ontario Superior Court seeking a combined $3-million in damages for “heightened anxiety, depression and frustration,” among other things, suffered by the families.
As for Jacqueline Slinn, given the "heightened anxiety, depression and frustration" she claims as well as the MASSIVE embarrassment she's inflicting upon her daughter, she should petition OHIP to cover the nose job she probably fears her daughter will need.

Shrieeek!!!! It's all in the spin.
Facts about public events and occurrences tend to get varnished, twisted and distorted by The Fetus©™ fetishists in their attempt to provoke outrage and to get a good chorus of shriEEEks going.
That nifty little tactic was certainly on display as the zygote zealots milked the shooting death of Jim Pouillon as much as they could. SUZIE CAPS-ON even promoted the notion that Pouillon should be nominated for sainthood. Umm, yeah. Right up there with the
Here's a recent example that occurred at Southwestern Women's Options.
The basic elements of the story are: a couple accompanying their adolescent daughter to a women's clinic were called out by anti-abortion activists. The patient and her parents went inside the building. The father then came out to tell the activists that he would act forcefully to protect his daughter and wife if they were approached again when they left the clinic. The activists claimed that he threatened to shoot one of them. Operation Rescue volunteers phoned police and said that they saw what they assumed to be a gun. The police arrived, took the man into custody and because they could not find a weapon upon him - as Operation Rescue volunteers claimed - proceeded to search the premises of the clinic. Firearms were eventually found locked in the vehicle owned by the father. No charges have been filed, pending a completed investigation of the event.
Compare these versions of the event, fed by Operation Rescue truthiness. It starts with the headline. In fact the father was not 'arrested', nor charged.
Here is a reality-based account.
My prediction is that Operation Rescue will exploit this tactic - claiming that they have been threatened by people accompanying patients to clinics, or by patients themselves. Given the US anti-abortion movement's history in promoting and supporting homicidal actions against medical staff, police have zero tolerance for any kind of perceived or real threat of violence around Planned Parenthood and other women's clinics. I expect that zygote zealots will report that they thought they saw a gun/knife/bomb and claim they were threatened in order to get the police to sweep down upon the location.
How many times will they pull such stunts before they get charged with mischief and sent the bill for abusing police resources?

Today's whining over at Blob Blogging Wingnut.
Rob was disturbed that Bazelon wrote that money for fellowship program which funds two or three years of seed money for abortion training for OB-GYN residents at medical schools (58 campuses in the U.S. and Canada have received financing) comes from one foundation and from one family. But Pro-Lies and other abortion-criminalizing groups are aware this funding is given by the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation. As well, he feels that she has irresponsibly exposed the people she interviewed to harm, and the universities to harassment.
I disagree; paragraphs such as these, given the danger and threats posed to physicians by rabid extremist zygote zealots (which STE-NITOUCHE deplores but always justifies) were surely vetted with the potential targets of anti-abortion violence.
The honest descriptions of behind-the-scenes reality Bazelon presents are authentic and faithful to the lives of women and respectful of the choices they make, physicians, care-givers and patients alike. Many of the two dozen young doctors I talked to for this article were similarly conflicted. They wanted to talk about their work. They see it as part of making abortion mainstream. But the murder of Dr. George Tiller last year scared them.
One 33-year-old family-medicine doctor I met in Rochester drives 90 miles each week to perform abortions at a clinic in Syracuse. She is pregnant with her third child, and she asked me not to use her name after her father insisted that she’d be putting herself and her kids at risk.
Still, at her Episcopal church, where she feels safe, she is open about what she does. “When people are surprised, I say, ‘Yes, a Christian can also be an abortion provider,’ ” she told me.
Yet Blob Blogging Wingnut perorates:
"It seems that they take it for granted that "objective" media is about serving ideological ends, not giving all sides of the story. Shocking, isn't it?"
What's really "shocking" is that SUZIE-CAPS-ON! does not attack the NYTimes article. And that's because it's more than HER capacity to spin dogmatic truthiness and religious propaganda can handle.
