Stevie the Spiteful, Brand New Friend of Women

If you've eaten recently, don't click. It's our PM, Stevie the Spiteful, with an op-ed in the Star of all places.

The knee-slappingness of it:
Yet, it should not take a natural disaster to turn our attention to the less fortunate. The world's poor have been hit hardest by the global economic downturn and in these difficult times we must address their pressing needs.

Indeed, all too frequently, tragedy strikes those who can least afford it. The lack of the most basic services can lead to dire consequences, especially for the world's most vulnerable populations. Each year, it is estimated that 500,000 women lose their lives during pregnancy or childbirth. Further, an astonishing 9 million children die before their fifth birthday.

HOW FUCKING STUPID DOES HE THINK WE ARE?????

Sorry to yell, but, I mean, really.

This is the guy who gloats about cutting funding to women a.k.a. 'Left-Wing Fringe Groups'.

'Left-Wing Fringe' vs. Steve's Friends

While blogoland brims with joy or at least grudging admiration -- not at all shared by moi or by the genius pale at A Creative Revolution -- over Steve's recent attempt to humanize himself, do not forget what he actually thinks about that 'left-wing fringe group' known as women.

Proclaim your proud membership or support of the Fringe by ordering a t-shirt in support of LEAF.

The gift-giving season is fast approaching. For just 20 bucks you can delight a friend! Or piss off a misogynist/CONservative family member!

The t-shirt was co-designed by the genius pale, who also had this brilliant take on Steve's recent performance. Check out who his friends really are.

He Likes Us. No, Really.

This requires its own post.

Credit. Via Antonia, of course, done by Dwayne Radke. Great job.

Background and details here.

Make a Political Fashion Statement!

DJ has gone all grrrly lately, with blogposts about fashion.

It's my turn.

The t-shirts are ready!

Make a fashionable political statement.

Or a political fashion statement.

Order them at LEAF's store here.

There are two sorts -- regular and fitted -- for actual members of the left-wing fringe group. And regular t's for our supporters.

It's a fundraiser for LEAF, an organization just about gutted by the Harpocons, so if you've got the dough, buy a few to give to friends and family. And/or encourage others to buy.

All hail to Antonia Zerbisias, whose fiendishly clever idea this was.

And to the plotters and planners at this Facebook page.

From idea to on-line ordering in something like a week and a half! I tell you -- we are pretty awesome for a left-wing fringe group.

To Iggy and the Libs: Thanks for Backing Off

I said in the comments to this seemingly controversial blogpost that I would update when the Liberal Party officially clarified its position.

It has.
UPDATE
The Facebook group called “Proud to be a member of that ‘left wing fringe group’ called women” is a non-partisan initiative. The women in our office discovered their efforts a few days ago and were thrilled to support it. We made sure the message on our buttons was different so that people wouldn’t be confused. Buttons were distributed to all MPs who wanted them regardless of political party affiliation. We understand the group’s desire for this not to be partisan.

So, speaking just for myself, I thank the Liberal Party for their acknowledgment that our efforts are strictly non-partisan.

OK, guys, here's your chance

This is growing legs. Some serious legs.

To recap: Antonia Zerbisias first wrote a column, then a blogpost on her fabulous idea to make t-shirts emblazoned with 'Proud to be a member of that "left-wing fringe group" called "women"'. She created a Facebook page with membership at the moment of 972 good people.

That project is for real t-shirts with proceeds going to an equal rights organization yet to be named.

Simultaneously, Alison at Creekside created a virtual t-shirt and added people's names to it. Then we started hearing from the good guys who love and support members of that left-wing fringe group called women.

I suggested at Antonia's place that there also be real a t-shirt for the guys, or, as we called them in the first F-Word Awards 'Support Bro's'. I don't know if the real-t-shirt organizers are going to take that on, but in the meantime, step right up, fellas, and add your name to this virtual t-shirt.

Leave a comment here and when I figure out how to do it -- or when I figure out how to strong-arm some smarter person into doing it, your name will be added.

And of course, sistah and support bro bloggers, feel free to pile on!

UPDATE: Antonia in the comments confirms that there will be a guys' version and that LEAF is taking it on as a fundraiser. Yay, us!
