Pity the Poor Canadian Anti-Choice Movement: Lost and Losing

I've been thinking about the Canadian fetus freak movement lately and how despondent they must be. I mean, they've had absolutely no wins here and some -- admittedly minor -- defeats (see New Brunswick, PEI, and Ontario).

Yes, they litter the landscape with their idiotic underground fetus flags and gory postcards, but really, what have they got to show for their relentless SHRIEEEKING?

As compared to the US, where fetus freaks have been having an orgy of misogyny for the past four or five years.

I watch this stuff and even I get waaaay behind. This recent one, from Wisconsin, takes a cake of some kind.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said this week that he would sign a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy that does not contain exceptions for rape and incest victims, if the bill reaches his desk. The measure also contains a less-discussed provision that would allow the father to sue the doctor for "emotional and psychological distress" if he disagrees with the abortion, regardless of his relationship with the woman having the procedure.
Got that? Some rando guy can sue a doctor for performing an abortion on some woman he may or may not have had sex with. Reports did not detail whether DNA tests would be required.

The USian anti-choice festival includes all kinds of legislation on extended waiting periods, mandated lying by doctors, bans on telemed abortions, bans on certain methods of abortion, vicious parental notification rules, hyped up "safety" requirements for clinics, totally bogus claims of "fetal pain," egregious funding cuts for healthcare orgs that might possibly, sometime, maybe discuss abortion with patients.

Et fucking cetera.

Here in Canada, they got bupkis.

So, the latest fundraising SHRIEEEK from LieSite titled "Don’t Be Silent!"struck me as funny. (There is randomly strewn bold in this that I'm too lazy to reproduce.)
We can no longer afford to deny the hard truth: the threats to the freedoms of Canadians like you and me who believe in the sanctity of life and the traditional family are growing every day.

Right now the push to implement Wynne’s sex-ed curriculum is in high gear, the legalization of euthanasia country-wide is on our doorsteps, and abortion extremists have even taken away the rights of pro-life doctors in Ontario to refuse to refer for abortions!

Now, more than ever, the unique investigative reporting of LifeSite is needed to combat the manipulation of the mainstream media and the growing anti-life and anti-family sentiments across Canada.

However, with only 10 days remaining in our summer fundraising campaign,we have only raised $8,000 towards our absolutely minimum goal of $200,000.
Summer fundraising campaign? They have one for each season? Meaning they need to raise $800,000 a year?

Wow. That's a lot of dough to raise when you've got absolutely nothing to show for it.

A couple of weeks ago, I was also amused by the Fetal Gore Gang's revisiting of their three-year old wet squib of a campaign to appropriate the historic Abortion Caravan.

That might have been better titled "How we tried to hijack a prochoice icon and then got lost in Ottawa somewhere and failed to show up for the grand finale to the great amusement of our critics."

But on further reflection, I realized that the fetus freaks have had a recent victory.

They singlehandedly elected weirdo Patrick Brown as leader of the Ontario Conservative Party. (I refuse to put the word "progressive" in there.)

If you're interested in Ontario politics and/or grassroots organizing, read that Interim article.

Ontario zygote zealots were stoked that they had TWO double-plus good fetus freak candidates, Brown and McNaughton, contesting all-but-annointed Christine Elliott.

Then the dirty tricks started.

The week before the vote, pro-lifers began receiving a flyer from Concerned Conservatives of Ontario, which claimed Brown was not pro-life or pro-family, going so far as to attack him for being a bachelor without kids who could not understand family issues. CLC’s [Campaign Life Coalition] Jeff Gunnarson told The Interim this was a dirty trick, probably carried out by the Elliott campaign or one of her supporters.

CLC contacted their supporters with mailings, email reminders, and a voice blast urging them to vote for Brown and ignore the bogus Concerned Conservatives letter.
…

CLC supporters came out in force. McNaughton told The Interim in April that pro-life and pro-family voters were the most motivated to vote in the leadership, and it appears he was correct. According to numerous sources within the Brown campaign, their voter identification efforts found that about three-quarters of CLC supporters who bought a membership voted in the leadership contest. That, as one put it, “is an astonishingly high number.”

YAY! Congratulations, anti-choice. For as long as Brown is leader, you've guaranteed a non-Conservative government in Ontario.

MOST MASSIVIST ANTI-CHOICE CAMPAIGN EVAH!

The Fetal Gore Porn Gang -- you remember, the same group of nutbars who attempted to co-opt the Abortion Caravan -- along with Campaign Lie have a new campaign billed as "the biggest pro-life campaign Canada has ever seen."

DJ! reported on its launch last week. That's an account by an attendee at the Victoria event who had some uncomfortable and, apparently, unanswerable questions for the organizers.

Well, now that they're a week into their current road trip, let's have a look at how they're doing. (They really like road trips, don't they? Maybe because it gets them out from under the parental/pastoral thumb?)

Here's the schedule with handy Facebook links.

Oddly, the FB page for the Victoria bunfest on March 13 is "unavailable."

Here are some details from the other knees-upses. I'm using their own numbers. (Go to "schedule" link for individual FB links; I'm too lazy to code them all.)

In Vancouver on March 14, out of 655 invited, 43 "went."

In Chiliwack on March 16, 35 out of 577 invitees attended.

Kelowna on March 18, 11 out of 77.

Calgary on March 19, 35 out of 512.

Edmonton on March 21, 28 out of 429.

Next up is Saskatoon on March 24. So far 126 have been invited and 21 are "going" with 7 "maybes'." For Brandon on March 27, 10 of 110 plan to go. Regina on March 25 has no FB page and 30 Winnipegers of 418 invitees intend on going.

Then there are several in Ontario, then the one I'm planned on visiting, Toronto on April 10. The fetus freaks have great hopes of this one. They've invited 1.2k, of which so far 63 are going with 47 maybes.

That's not counting me, so add one there.

The April 20 event in Fredericton should be interesting given recent events there. Twenty-five of 205 invitees have confirmed their attendance so far.

Strangely, there is no Ottawa event listed.

The last event on the schedule is on May 12 in Peterborough.

Then nothing until May 25, but this final event in Woodstock, ON, is billed as "End the Killing," the tag-line of their Old New Abortion Caravan wankeroo. And it is a "CLOSED" event.

Their partner, Campaign Lie, however, is holding its MASSIVE annual martyrgasm, March of the Fetii, in Ottawa on May 14.

Might the Fetal Gore Gang be planning another Grand Finale?

As they did for the 2012 March for Lies with their Grand Jete de FetusMobile?

Which got unaccountably lost. (As reported by both JJ, the Unrepentant and DJ!.)

Maybe they don't want to, you know, create any unfulfillable expectations.

But let's go back to the numbers.

Even if they're telling the truth -- hey, there's a first time for everything! -- they are kind of sad, aren't they?

Forty-three in Vancouver and 35 in Calgary, which are pretty big cities.

There are 23 stops on the tour. If they get an average -- let's be generous -- of 30 per venue, that's just under 700 people.

But, see, these gatherings are not the point. The point is to hand out ONE MILLION pieces of trademark gore porn.
"This will be the biggest pro-life campaign in Canadian history," the campaign organizers state. But they stress that, "In order for us to do this, the pro-life movement will need thousands of boots on the ground across the country to participate in the #No2Trudeau campaign in whatever form of activism they feel comfortable with."
THOUSANDS OF BOOTS ON THE GROUND!!!

And they're on track for about 700 pairs, or 1400 boots.

Which is going to be interesting since by my calculation, to hit ONE MILLION PIECES, each boot is going to have to hand out more than 700 pieces.

On Twitter, on the #no2Trudeau hashtag, they're claiming victory because no one is engaging in discussion. Also because "proborts" (typo or new styling? I kinda like it) are deleting tweets. I don't think they get this Twitter thingamajig.

I'm enjoying this and will keep you posted.

If any of you have some time and would like to check them out, here again is their schedule. DJ! would be pleased to offer a venue for your reports.

What about the Children??!11!??

For so-cons, it's aaallll about the children.

The new prostitution bill, C36, among other things, would criminalize the selling of sex anywhere children might reasonably be expected to be present, which given the little buggers' omnipresence is literally anywhere.

Because as pearl-clutching Focus on the Family lady, Andrea Mrozek, says: "Parents don’t want to see massage parlours next to ballet schools."

Though, twitterer Voice of tReason points out there is some overlap.

The cyber-bullying law, C13, similarly "protects" children.
MacKay said C-13, also known as the Protecting Canadians from Online Crime Act, reflected the government’s commitment "to ensuring that our children are safe from online predators and from online exploitation."

And the practice of warrantless searches by police, savaged by the Supreme Court this week, allows cops to go after evil child pornographers without the inconveeeenience of convincing a judge that there's merit to their hysteria suspicions.

But. When it comes to exposing kids to gory, faked-up photos supposedly of aborted fetuses, protecting the children gets thrown out with the bathwater to preserve, yes, you guessed it, FREE SPEECH.

Oddly, parents who don't seem overly concerned with school-yard prostitution, are quite ticked over traumatizing flyers shoved in their mailboxes for their children to find and freak out over.

Two cities in Canada have been targetted by the Centre for Bioethical Reform, aka the Fetusmobile people, for their frankly named "Face the Children" project.

Parents in Calgary are pissed off and people in Hamilton want a law against the abusive practice.

So, Petey, how about a law called "Protecting Children from Nutbars with Psychotic Fetus Fetishes"?

Hm?

Vaginas Retaliate!

The University of Cincinnati recently played host to the campus-roving display of huge nasty photos linking abortion to genocide and slavery and bad breath. You know, the FetusMobile people.

Well, some smarty-pants students came up with an absolutely brilliant idea and are pulling it off in spectacular fashion.
Nearly a dozen billboard-sized photos of vaginas in various states – including shaved ones, others that are blemished, and still some with tampons inserted – are slated for display today and tomorrow at the University of Cincinnati as part of a student-sponsored “Re-Envisioning the Female Body” exhibit.

The female genitalia photos are in direct retaliation to an anti-abortion display hosted by prolife students at the university last May that included graphic images of aborted fetuses, its organizers state.

“Their billboard-sized photographs equated mutilated fetuses with genocide victims in an effort to shame women,” states Female Body exhibit organizers on their Facebook page. “Our demonstration serves to call attention to the vaginas as a site of conflict … its purpose is to incite conversation about the objectification, exploitation and discrimination of women’s bodies … it points to the negative disposition our society holds toward the vagina.”
. . .
“The pose that I chose reflects this idea that a woman’s body is sort of medicalized,” Kate Elliott, the University of Cincinnati student who co-organized the exhibit and took the vagina photos, told City Beat. “I overexposed the images so they’re really jarring. They’re not cutesy or subtle, they’re right up in your face.”

There's a Facebook page with one of the photos and lots of comments, natch.

Whose work would aspiring feminist portrayers evoke? The Grand Mistress of Vagina Art, of course.

The University will not interfere.

LOST: One FetusMobile

Everyone wants to know. What the heck happened with the Fetusmobile Gore Tour's Grand Finale?

They had Big Plans (bold in original).
After crossing the country to Toronto, the New Abortion Caravan will end in Ottawa, where politicians and the public will be forced to face the shattered bodies of Canadian children they have failed so badly.

It will be a Canada Day to remember.

Not all Canadians are recognized as the intrinsically valuable human beings that they are. We cannot—we will not—rest until the pre-born are acknowledged as having the same right to life as the born. Using historical precedent while exposing an undeniable injustice, the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform's New Abortion Caravan will save lives.

It will force Canadians to reconsider the value of the pre-born child, launching abortion into the media while rallying and uniting the pro-life faithful.

We will EndtheKilling, and we will end it in our lifetime.
That's a lotta 'forcing', innit?

Here's a press release.
The group's schedule is as follows:
Saturday, June 30, 2pm: Special delivery to 24 Sussex Drive
Sunday, July 1, 11am-5pm: Abortion signs in front of Parliament Hill
Monday, July 2, 7:30pm: Public presentation, Greenbelt Baptist Church, 839 Shefford Rd, Ottawa
But LifeShite reports:
On Sunday July 1, the group of 25 activists, with an average age of 24, were demonstrating with their large graphic signs near Parliament Hill. Thereafter they hand-delivered postcards bearing graphic images directly to homes across the city. The city’s highways were also treated to the images courtesy of the group’s roaming truck.
Not 'in front of' Parliament Hill. 'Near' Parliament Hill. OK, then.

Mrozek and Dr Dawg attended the evening church event. Mrozek's bit has more about the protesters than the Gore Tour and Dr Dawg confirms that the Fetusmobile did NOT make an appearance at the finale.

So where is the truck? (And was there only one? Some 'caravan'.) Where's the crowing about success? Where's the forcing now, hmmm?

On Twitter, JJ asked about the truck and, being something of a backyard mechanic, offered to have a look at it if it had broken down.

But we think she's got it right with this.

Yep. It'll be a long trip back to Hicksville.

Just like Woodworth's Wank (M312), this genius notion was a MASSIVE waste of time and money.

Added by deBeauxOs. I follow @vickyatclc who tweeted live from the event; she posted some great photos, such as this one.

I walked around the downtown core, near the Byward Market on July 1st and I didn't see the Whingebago. Very few families groups heading for the Hill. Perhaps word got out about the graphic images being forced on the public, and people not being allowed onto our Parliament grounds by Harper's security goons.

BONUS: JJ helps in the search.

What Would Jesus Do?

Most certainly ^NOT this.
Youth activists with The New Abortion Caravan are descending on Ottawa this weekend with billboard-size abortion images. At 2pm on Saturday, they will be bringing bloody pictures and a child's coffin to the prime minister's private residence. Then on July 1, they will be displaying abortion images near the Parliament Hill Canada Day celebrations. They also plan to hand-deliver postcards bearing graphic images directly to homes across the city.
My daughter's sister-in-law lives in Ottawa. She is a devout Catholic and though not a shrieking zygote zealot, she would prefer to live in a world where women didn't have abortions.

She recently miscarried at 21 weeks of gestation. It was a much wanted pregnancy; she, her husband and their children greatly anticipated the birth of a sibling.

I'll suggest that she avoid the areas where the Whingebago aka FetusMobile will be travelling. Oh, and anywhere the antiChoice brigade might be Crusading for the christian Sharia and distributing their graphic images.

It would be a horrific trigger event, to inflict upon someone who has recently experienced a medical and emotional trauma. Her husband is a gentle fellow but he might react strongly to such rabid insensitivity and bullying by the fetushizers.

Gore and Death Fetishists

Huh. The brouhaha -- I'm not going to elevate this idiocy to 'debate' -- around Woodworth's Wank has not been a total waste of time. I have learned two things. Well, one thing has been reinforced, but the other is new to me.

First, the primitive mindset of the fetish fetishists is revealed yet again by their belief in the magic of the holy/bloody image. Remember ultrasound jesus?

This kinda stuff really floats their little mental boats, as exemplified by the reincarnation (snerk) of the Fetusmobile, or Whingebago, as Niles styles it.

Here's SUZYALLCAPS, also known as SHE Who Redirects Links to HER Blog to Holy Fetal Pr0n, on Choice Chain, part of the current Gore Tour. (I'm using a hyperlink to see if SHE can resist her usual juvenile redirect, and, in so doing, proving my point.)
This is why Choice Chain is powerful. Feminists can argue that abortions don't look like this. But their argument is pretty damned weak if they won't show what a dismembered embryo or fetus looks like. There is one picture of an abortion on the internet that shows more non-embryonic tissue than anything else. But if the feminists do not counter with a substantially different picture that compares apples to apples, i.e. dismembered fetuses to dismembered fetuses, they're being misleading themselves.

That's why abortion pics can and do change opinions. I'm not saying they're a magic bullet. But they're one weapon in the pro-life arsenal. And that they're the reason why many people have changed their minds.
There SHE goes lying again. SHE really does believe in the magic. But then SHE believes in bleeding icons, drinking blood, and eating flesh of fairies.

So, by HER lights, feminists fail the 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours' competition, ergo fetus fetishists WIN!

Except, er, actually the feminists already WON this one.

But whatever. . .

The other thing is new. Fetus fetishists actually believe that Culture of Death malarkey. It's not just a handy label. They actually believe that women who seek abortions actively, passionately WANT a dead fetus. They want to KILLKILLKILLKILL it.

Look.

'Bodily autonomy' is just some lame excuse to KILLKILLKILL.

Just who is obsessed with gore and death here, hm?

And they call us sick.

Chocolate Milk Martyrgasm!

Waaah!
“We are disturbed that this man would bully and assault young women trying to speak up for other women as well as children,” said Stephanie Gray, executive director of the Canadian Centre for Bioethical Reform.

“But we are inspired by the calm response of our team members who refuse to fight violence with violence.  By their actions, my courageous colleagues echoed the sentiment of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who once said, ‘We will match your ability to inflict suffering with our ability to endure suffering.’”
Saintly, I tells ya, they're saintly.

I just love chocolate milk as a 'weapon'. Sticky, non-toxic, non-staining. Tasty even.

Unlike the preferred weapons of the fetus fetishists: handguns, sniper rifles, fire bombs, and, as JJ added on Twitter, garden shears.

Vancouver Canucks on Board with Gore Tour?

Oh dear. Seems like someone closely associated with another NHL team has stepped in the fetushist cowpie.
Mark Donnelly is an opera singer based out of Vancouver, but he's perhaps best-known as the Canadian anthem singer at Vancouver Canucks games. The tenor has been leading the Rogers Arena crowd in his stirring renditions of "O Canada" for years, and he's become a recognizable local figure for it. He's very closely linked to the team, listed on the Canucks' website under Game Entertaiment Performers and often touted as "Canucks anthem singer Mark Donnelly" in commercials and at other Vancouver events.

That in mind, one has to wonder how the team feels that their noted anthem singer has also decided to become closely associated with the New Abortion Caravan, a group of trucks with 7-foot tall and 22-foot long billboards adorned with graphic abortion imagery that will be driving across Canada beginning this week.

On Tuesday, he sang the anthem at their launch on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Yup. There is he is. Nice images for a family-friendly sports franchise eh?

This is what he had to say before he sang:
"I'd just like to say. There's a lot of Canadians, both born and unborn, and this is for all of us, for everyone out here too and all of Canada.
Remember if we can't discuss things rationally, then we're not Canadians, we have to be able to talk."
Doesn't sound like the sharpest knife in the drawer, does he?

But trading on his local celebrity to help launch an anti-abortion campaign in Crunchy Granola Land?

Not cool.

Here's the Gore Gang he's now associated with. These are the people also behind the 'Genocide Awareness Project', which regularly causes ruckuses on university campuses. And of course, there's the infamous postcard campaign that mightily pissed off Calgarians last March.

Now, DJ!'s sports fans will remember the spot of bother the Ottawa Senators found themselves in when their 'Better Halves' (that would be wives and girlfriends) decided to play footsie with a lying Xian forced crisis pregnancy centre*.

So. How's this little stunt going over with fetishists?

SUZY thinks it will open a whole new market to the Message.
The New Abortion Caravan Makes the...Sports Page?

The guy who sings O Canada at the Vancouver Canucks' Game sang the anthem at the launch of the New Abortion Caravan. Yahoo Sports covered it.

Way to go Abortion Caravan. People who were never exposed to abortion issue were not made aware of it. Thumbs up.
(Um, I think SUZY's got an extra 'not' in there? Or is SHE being subtle?)

How about the fans?

Oh dear again.

That would be the team's official Twitter account @VanCanucks.

In related news, you gotta follow @FetusCaravan, the blow-by-blow of the Gore Tour from inside the bus, so to speak. Hmm, the account seems to have undergone a staffing change. Related to this perhaps?

Rest assured that DJ! will be following this.

BREAKING! Fetus Lobby Enters Way-Back Machine

As we asked back here, what the hell are the Fetushists® up to with their cheesy teaser?

Today's the Big Day. Finally we can answer the burning question.

Not much.
Anti-Abortion Activists Highjack Abortion Rights’ Pet Project

Young adults with the anti-abortion group, Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform have released details today about their plan to take a project once used to advance abortion rights, the 1970 Abortion Caravan, and to instead abolish abortion with their own spin-off: The New Abortion Caravan.

In one week’s time, 20-plus young people ranging in ages from 19-36 will be driving box-bodied trucks with 7-foot tall and 22-foot wide posters of aborted children, demonstrating on street corners with similar graphics, and circulating postcards at peoples’ homes. They are starting their campaign in Vancouver on May 29, travelling across the country and ending in Ottawa on Canada Day.

CCBR’s executive director Stephanie Gray explained the historical significance of her group’s tour: “We have taken the sacred cow of Canada’s abortion rights movement and are using it to advance the cause for pre-born children.”
Pet project? Sacred cow?

From forty-plus fucking years ago?

Zowee. They've gassed up a few more FetusMobiles®.

JJ dubbed their perambulating fetal porn trucks FetusMobiles® at least five years ago.

And they've been pissing people off ever since.
