Not sure what Blob Blogging Wingnut would think of this. SHE attempts to master and exploit all internet traditions and gadgetry for HER cause, but the mess which is HER blogsite, chocka-block with fetal pr0n makes one wonder.

At any rate, SHE wouldn't agree with the glurge-y message at the end of the YouTube posted; from HER perspective, the catholic church should maintain its medieval control over women's sexuality and procreative potential.

Times change but the Vatican Taliban's ideology remains the same.

Meanwhile, in Montréal three cheeky humourists observed the season with a spectacle they concocted: Kosher jokes for the Halaladays. Three witty young women - one moslem, two jewish - Eman, Robby Hoffman et Jessica Salomon celebrated the delicious shared wisdom that comes from belonging to communities that don't get and don't want Xmas festivities - religious or not.

Shrieeekkk!?!?!?!?

Warning: Many rightwing fundamentalist religious zealots of all stripes are likely to be offended by this post.

This week I attended an evening of Xmas and secular holiday music held in a local church. The choir gave the money raised from ticket sales to local charities: a food bank and a shelter for homeless men.

One of the carols they sang was The First Noel; the lyrics repeat several times, and end with this statement:

"... Born is the King of Israel."

So I wondered: Would the CPCCA - the Canadian Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism which claims to the arbiter of everything anti-semitic find these words objectionable?

And if that carol were banned from public performance, would the fundamentalist christian zealots and/or rancid haters who screech there's a War On Christmas accuse Jews of persecuting them? Just asking.

It's all so confusing. Won't someone remember the true meaning of Xmas?

The teabaggers are coming just in time for Xmas.

And you thought it was safe to disregard the tragically studip? Bwahahahaha! they're ba-a-a-ack!

Any moment now, a TPP (pronounced teapeepee) leader will declare that the "government takeover of healthcare" (which is called healthcare reform by sane people) is a manifestation of the War On Christmas.

W.O.C.kers' vigilence regarding the phenomenon claimed to be yet another form of discrimination against and/or persecution of Christians is constant and never-ending. Focus on the Family has foot-soldiers marching in shopping malls all over the US, scrutinizing the wording in flyers and reporting what evidence they find.

Balbulican wrote a trenchant blogpost: "The REAL War on Christmas – Found At Last!" where he observes even christofascists are jumping on the retailing bandwagon. In the comment section he says:

About 95% of the “War On Christmas” stories you read have to do with vendors who are now promoting their products and services by encouraging EVERYONE who’s got a holiday with a gift-giving tradition to come and spend money. That’s as capitalist, as entrepreneurial, as private sector as you can get.

At the risk of provoking yet another round of shrieeekkking from fundamentalist religious zealots, this may be an appropriate moment to quote someone who had a powerful approach to creating Peace on earth and goodwill for all living creatures.

"Irony" or "Jesus"?

Look carefully at the "scorch marks" on that iron. Is that ...? Yup, yup, you betcha. From FoxNews:

A Massachusetts woman who recently separated from her husband, had her hours at work cut, and moved into an apartment, says an image of Jesus Christ she sees on her iron has reassured her that "life is going to be good."

Mary Jo Coady first noticed the image on Sunday when she walked into her daughter's room. The brownish residue on the bottom of the iron looks like the face of a man with long hair.

The 44-year-old Coady, who was raised Catholic, and her two college-age daughters agree that the image looks like Jesus and is proof that "he's listening."

At first I was puzzled that FoxNews would consider this personal testimonial of a private moment of illumination "news". And then all was illuminated. FoxNews is using Coady's experience to illustrate the "War Against Christmas".
