I had never heard of Tim Minchin until yesteday when I ran into a post at PZ Myers's place that has a cartoon embedded called Pope Song. It contains some very bad words and YouTube won't let me embed it unless I confirm that I'm 18 years old by signing up. I don't want to sign up, so you'll have to go to PZ's place to watch it and, in particular, listen to the clever lyrics.
This scathing and hilarious piece was released last April, but in 'honour' of the Poop's visit to the UK, Minchin has a free MP3 download of it at his place.
Minchin has his own YouTube channel where you'll find me for the next little while. I just popped back here to share this with you on a lovely Sunday morning.
Here's a sample that YouTube will let me embed. It starts slowly but stick with it. He's not only funny, he's a pretty good musician too.
You're welcome.
Update: Unlike fern hill, I am over 18 years of age and subscribed to YouTube. So here is the NOT safe for work animation - deBeauxOs

Questions, Questions
OK, the window for both submitting and voting up questions for Stevie ('Gettin' down with da yout') Harper's YouTube bunfest on Tuesday has closed.
Here's what's gonna happen:
So, what were the top-voted questions, you ask?
The Top Twenty:
• 9 on ending the prohibition on cannabis (well, 11 if you count the Marc Emery questions)
• 4 on the Cons' crime bills, all pointing out that the facts don't fit the 'solution'
• 2 on letting Marc Emery, aka Prince of Pot (Seeds), get extradited to the US and how about getting him back to Canada to serve his sentence
• 1 each on: Afghan detainees, student debt, releasing government information, prorogation, and the environment.
Progressives were totally victorious.
There are some lame (and badly spelled) efforts to bash the French, multiculturalism, and immigration in general. There are some equally lame attempts to sing the praises of (in no particular order) our troops, law and order, the Cons' fiscal *snort* responsibility.
Oh. And abortion of course.
All were vigorously and soundly voted DOWN.
In addition to the subjects in the top twenty, there are many questions of interest to seniors and ex-Nortel employees on pensions. Lots on the Cons' promises of accountability *snort* and transparency *double snort*. Several on the Cons and women's issues.
Many thoughtful questioners threw choice Stevie quotes back at him and politely asked if he still held that view -- like destroying medicare, reconfiguring Canada so no one would recognize it, and other old faves.
There are several questions related to the Cons'religious rightwingnut evangelical advisors.
In short, all the bloody questions the bloody MSM should have been asking for the past four bloody years.
So, which 'selection' of 'top-voted' questions will Stevie the Spiteful answer?
Stay tuned. This is going to be verrrrry interesting.
Here's what's gonna happen:
The Prime Minister will answer a selection of your top-voted questions in an exclusive YouTube interview next Tuesday March 16, 2010 at 7 p.m. ET.

Fun with YouTube
On a cold, rainy day, Stevie's YouTube stunt is providing some serious giggles.
'Getting down wit da yout' is turning out to be an irresistible opportunity to slam Harper and gang. And many of my fellow Canadians are very witty about it.
But many of them are not very polite. Alison at Creekside has a post about the questions, with some choice samples. My fave so far is 'WHAT'S YOUR HAIR MADE OF?'
Of course, there are serious questions too. And some hobby-horse riding.
Our pal, Mr Kicking Abortion's Ass, explains at the Freaks.
The questions -- about 1500 at the moment -- are searchable by keyword. Search, then vote the ones you like up and the others down. You can also flag questions as inappropriate. * evul smiley *
I just did 'abortion' and 'women'. I'm about to go back for 'Afghan' and 'detainee'.
While lefty-libtard-feminazi questions seem to attract a lot of thumbs down, there are remarkably few Con-friendly questions. They can click but they can't come up with softball questions?
Go. Giggle.

The Revolution Is Being YouTubed
Go to The Dish.
Amazing -- and yes, graphic -- vids, photos, and reports.
Go.
If You're Just Tuning In ...
The Dish has been live-blogging the latest phase of the Green Revolution through the night, since 11 pm EST last night. We recommend scrolling down to the bottom and reading up to get a flavor of how today unfolded in real time. The images and videos are among the most graphic to date, so be warned. Dish policy is to provide as much information on reality as we can. Readers should also know that these videos are by their very nature impossible to confirm beyond a very rough due diligence. So again: caution. But this is an historic moment, the culmination of the biggest story of the year, even though you wouldn't know it from the Sunday talk shows.
Amazing -- and yes, graphic -- vids, photos, and reports.
Go.
