Pull the other one, Dalton.

Just heard a snippet of news on Radio-Canada, at the top of the hour.

Dalton McGuinty promises Ontario tax-payers that his government will attempt to "show more transparency" in the future, with regard to the province's financial situation. En français - "montrer plus de transparence".

I can't find a recording of McGuinty's exact words, or that news item online at R-C or CBC. Is it a slip, or a deliberate attempt by a copy editor (do they actually still review texts before they're broadcast), to spice up yet another banal utterance by the premier?

I'll update as soon as I find something.

Manitoba CBC radio is notorious for adding story blips that don't appear anywhere else and are never followed up on. Drives me batty.

Is this it? http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2010/11/15/mcguinty-financial-updates452.html

Yes, that (clickable link of above) must be the news item. Whoever did the translation for Radio-Canada either inadvertently or purposefully chose "show more transparency".

Well it sounds like the something he would say...vague, ambiguous word salad hold the dressing.

What drives me batty is that every time an Ontario politician opens their trap the word "family" has to pop out. Government by focus group, powered by pinocchimotion.

A laugh-and-a-half catch, that . . . and particularly since it flushed " . . .powered by pinnochimotion." from the k'in.

Thank-you both. We'll need some new words as we lose sight of shore.

Can I add that I just love the finger wagging photo. I think it would make for a great avatar on discussion forums :-)

It's the look on her face as she verbally tears a strip off Dal-Ton that I love.

You go, girl!!!
