*Epic* attack indeed.

DAMMIT JANET! admires Elizabeth Warren. A lot.

There is much in what she says and how she says it that is admirable.

Thus attacks upon her candidacy began, first with the sexist & idiotic and now ... with the big (though far from MASSIVELY endowed) hired gun.

Yep. Karl Rove.
It’s no surprise that Rove and his ilk are attacking Warren. She’s a major threat to the Republican Party and its allied corporate backers for two reasons.

Number one: she’s running even with Brown in a race that may very decide control of the Senate.

Number two: her reformist background and brand of progressive populism is deeply resonant right now. Unlike so many in Washington, she’s taken on the banks and their allies, is not beholden to them, and is not afraid of them. That makes her dangerous to the political establishment in both parties.

Tea Hatriot vs Elizabeth Warren

fern hill posted an earlier clip of Elizabeth Warren as she concisely and passionately debunked the claim from the RightWing NutJobs aka extreme neo-conservatives, that increasing taxes on the wealthy is akin to "class warfare."

This is a recent clip of an exchange Warren had with a man who crashed a meeting with her campaign volunteers to harangue her.
[...] the man, who said that he has been unemployed for more than a year, voiced his frustrations with the anti-Wall Street demonstrations and took issue with Warren over her recent comments suggesting she had laid the "intellectual foundation" for the movement.

The pro-Warren crowd quickly moved to shout the man down, but Warren quieted the room so she could respond. "No, no, it's all right. Let me say two things," she said. "I'm very sorry that you've been out of work. I'm also very sorry that the recent jobs bill that would've brought 22,000 jobs to Massachusetts did not pass in the Senate."

Warren went on to address his question about her association with Occupy Wall Street. "I've been protesting what's been going on on Wall Street for a very long time," she said, but added that the movement has its own independent agenda and will proceed along its own course.

"Yeah, so has the Tea Party," the man said, before losing his cool. "Well, if you're the intellectual creator of that so-called party," he said, "you're a socialist whore. I don't want anything to do with you."
From here. Warren handled the man's questions with grace and respect. Compare and contrast her perspectives with the lunatic views of the darlings of the Tea Party, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann.

Elizabeth Warren

Usually, I don't have the patience to watch long videos. About six-seven minutes is my limit.

So, last night, as I told my sweetie about Elizabeth Warren, I showed him this (short) video.

Then, from the same YouTube page, he clicked on this. It's nearly an hour long, but it's rivetting and provides the facts and figures for the long decline of the middle class in the US. And, no doubt, things are much the same -- except for the healthcare issue, thank the goddess -- here in Canada.

The lecture was given in 2008, but it explains everything you need to know about the Occupy movement.

Elizabeth Warren has had an interesting and very impressive life. At the moment, she's running for the Senate seat in Massachusetts currently held by this tool.

She's smart, attractive, and a great speaker. A down-to-earth Harvard law professor.

I hope we're looking at the first female president of the US.
