Getting to Know Her

My respect for the innate sense of Merkins grows with the continuing labour protests and now this.
Sarah Palin's unfavorable rating has spiked to a new high, adding further fuel to the argument that her presidential campaign may be doomed before it begins.

A new Bloomberg poll shows the former Alaska governor is now viewed unfavorably by 60 percent of American adults. That's higher than any other poll has shown, but it's not even the entire picture.

Of that 60 percent, nearly two-thirds - 38 percent of all adults - say they view the former GOP vice presidential nominee "very unfavorably." No other politicians tested even comes close, including President Obama (22 percent). What's more, Palin's unfavorable rating is more than twice as high as her favorable rating, which rests at just 28 percent. Another 12 percent aren't sure how they feel about her.

The poll follows a long and continuous trend in which, as the presidential race nears, people gradually find that they like Palin less and less.

May Scott Wanker feel the love too.

Or as Chad Zdroik tweeted:

Her Best Before date was about 6 months ago.

She must have sensed it, because it was right around that time she started hinting at a possible run for President. Which of course caused a small but predictably temporary spike in the public's interest in her, and allowed her to keep charging those $100k speaking fees.

The problem with running for president is that you can only *hint-hint* at it for so long. Eventually you have to actually throw your hat in the ring. Much as I'd love to see her on the GOP ticket (esp. with Scott Wanker), it's not happening.

Oh Fern, I so hope you're wrong. I want Sarah Palin to campaign for the Republican nomination. I want to see her fellow Republicans turn her into fatty ground round. Do you think Mitt Romney would hesitate to put a permanent end to her political career? And can you even wrap your head around what she would do to fight back? It would be hilarious. Yet even if she prevailed that would be a gift from Heaven for Obama.

28% favorable. The crazification factor strikes again!

"Tyrone: Obama vs. Alan Keyes. Keyes was from out of state, so you can eliminate any established political base; both candidates were black, so you can factor out racism; and Keyes was plainly, obviously, completely crazy. Batshit crazy. Head-trauma crazy. But 27% of the population of Illinois voted for him. They put party identification, personal prejudice, whatever ahead of rational judgement. Hell, even like 5% of Democrats voted for him. That's crazy behaviour. I think you have to assume a 27% Crazification Factor in any population."

Yes, it would be comedy gold. But bloggers' loss is USian sensibility WIN.

Oh fern, if only that sensibility thing were true. Michele Bachmann is seriously considering pulling together a team, and she's even more dangerous than ESL McQuittypants because, as batshit crazy as Michele is, she does seem capable of learning. The right wing seems to have a never-ending supply of babbling boobs just waiting for their chance to drag us all into a new era of Dark Ages. And the public will either reach a tipping point soon, or I fear '12 is going to be a repeat of the midterms.
