I totally missed it, but via Wise Law Blog I just found out that not only is the annual clusterfuck known as the Canadian Blog Awards on right now, it's in the second-round voting stage.
Drat! I was so looking forward to it -- especially the announcement of the categories. We at DAMMIT JANET always have so much fun with that.
So, here are the categories this year:
Best Overall
Best Blog Post
Chronic Illness
Collaborative/Multi-Author Blogs
Art, Crafts, Cooking and Other Creative Activities
Culture and Literature
Family
Food and Drink
French Language (Francais)
GBLT
Health
Humour
Law Blogs
Music
New Blogs
Personal
Political
Popular Culture
Professional Life
Religion and Philosophy
Science and Technology
Sports
Notice anything?
Yup. Yet again the progress of the Canadian Blog Awards towards anything remotely relevant has been retarded.
And I've gotta ask -- where was this publicized? I'm a pretty dedicated blog-reader and I haven't run across anything about it until today.

Oh, and, as for whether it was publicized... there were >3000 nominations (many redundant)
hmmm.. there's no indigenous category? well.. Dammit Janet!
Anonymous: indigenous and feminist are good parallels. Indigenous bloggers would be addressing political, family, professional life, popular culture, health, knitting, really the whole gamut of categories. Just as feminist bloggers would.
But from a different (non-male, non-white, non-mainstream) perspective.
And that's what the CBA boyos won't consider. Can't consider? Hurts their little heads? Hurts their littler heads?
Fuck 'em.
I dunno. I think of myself as a reasonably informed and active blogger, and I had no idea this was on.
"Feminism" is a subset of "politics" (but GBLT isn't), but "Chronic Illness" isn't a subset of "health", "Music" isn't a subset of "culture"... not much logic to any of it.
and yet, jkleiman, there are no feminist blogs nominated in that category. So, that just doesn't fly.
I didn't know about this either! :(
Maybe they consulted an Expert in the Field, who advised them not to play with us anymore.
I smell a Conspiracy!!!
Sorry, I've been off-line for a couple of days. I suggest you go to a creative revolution the fab site that hosted the last two years' F-Word Awards. The nominees would provide you with a handy list of feminist blogs nominated by actual card-carrying feminists.
