This in part demonstrates the connection between an adherence to religious authoritarism and support for using physical abuse as a form of discipline to exact obedience from children.
And then of course, there are those who defend, rationalize, justify and tolerate the decades of physical, sexual, emotional and spiritual violence that members of the Catholic Church clergy and those under their authority inflicted upon children in their care.
It's inspiring to see that the Canadiens hockey player Georges Laraque lends his support to efforts to educate parents about the dangers of Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Interesting, I thought that was big Georges in the promo ad. He's one of the truly good guys in the sports realm. Not always, but quite often the on-ice tough guys, the 'goons', the fighters are some of the nicest, most respectful and approachable off the ice.
Also, interesting because big Georgie also self-identifies as a devout Christian (Catholic) who strongly believes that community works are part of his core Christian values. I am, of course, anti-religious, but Georges gets it right.
So, instead of shrieeeking about the unborn/preborn, Georges actually supports programs that makes the lives of children at risk worth living? Goodness, imagine that.
