José Cardoso Sobrinho, Archbishop of Olinda and Recife, confirmed that while the child would not be held accountable for the act, the doctor who carried out the abortion and anyone who assisted or gave their approval were excommunicated by the Church.So. A nine-year-old girl is NOT too young to rape, NOT too young to be forced to give birth, NOT too young to risk her life and health in being forced to give birth.
"To be subject to this penalty is it is necessary to be of age. The Church is very benevolent, especially with minors," the Archbishop told the media. "Now the adults, those who approved, who carried out this abortion, are excommunicated."
But the motherfucking Catlick Church is so 'very benevolent' that it considers her too young to be excommunicated.
Seriously. I got nuthin'.

benevolent
Interesting use of that word, isn't it?
So very 'benevolent' is the Church? Au contraire.
Malevolent is more how I would characterize a group of men willing to condemn a girl to death to potentially 'save' her 'innocent' fetus in order to uphold religious ideology.
"The church is very benevolent." Here, let me fill in the part he forgot:
"...except when you're a female of any age, pregnant for any reason, including rape, incest and pedophilia".
There. Much better.
Speaking of benevolent, why isn't the Catholic Church spending more time and money dealing with poverty, condemning human rights abuses and promoting peace? The following group, formed in the early 70s reflect the progressive principles that I was exposed to when I was going to Catholic school:
Then in 1971 Pope Paul VI emphasized that it is the laity who have received the primary "Call To Action" to create a more just world. That same year the international synod of the bishops issued an unusually brief and clear document. It declared that "action on behalf of justice and participation in the transformation of the world appears to us as a constitutive dimension of the preaching of the gospel." And, cautioned the synod, "The church recognizes that anyone who ventures to speak to people about justice must first be just in their eyes; hence, we must undertake an examination of the modes of action, of the possessions, and of the lifestyle found within the church itself."
The 1976 Detroit Call To Action
Following up on this mandate, the U.S. bishops on their return home from the synod launched a creative consultation process . Over 800,000 Catholics testified during two years of hearings, which culminated in the U.S. bishops' Call To Action Conference in Detroit in 1976, held in conjunction with the American Bicentennial. More than 100 bishops were among the 1,340 voting delegates and the 1,500 observers. At the end of three momentous days of discussion and debate, the assembly declared the church must stand up to the chronic racism, sexism, militarism and poverty in modern society. And to do so in a credible way the church must reevaluate its positions on issues like celibacy for priests, the male-only clergy, homosexuality, birth control, and the involvement of every level of the church in important decisions. The Detroit conference recommended that each diocese take the recommendations home and act upon them.

John Paul II did much to undermine all progressive views within the Catholic Church. The Rat Pope is bent on destroying any remnant.
The only time that Catholic patriarchs are willing to move heaven and earth to defend and protect women is during the gestation period while they're still fetus in a womb.
That certainly seems to be the case dBO. It's absolutely criminal. And kudos to this girl's mother. Let's hope she leaves her pedophile husband.
"Let's hope she leaves her pedophile husband."
Here, I'll finish that sentence:
"... tied to the railroad tracks."
