Gary Mason in today's Globe has a thought experiment of his own:
Just imagine if Joe Canadian were tasered in, oh, I don't know, let's say the Bangkok airport.
And Joe Canadian died.
Imagine that the Thai police took nine months to complete their investigation, an investigation that included a trip to Canada to look into Joe's past.
And in the end, they decided not to prosecute the police officers involved.
Their report says Joe died because he drank too much and suffered from a flying phobia, which combined to weaken his system and made him vulnerable when he was blasted with 50,000 volts of electricity.
Imagine how Canadians would react to a report like that.
Yeah. Imagine that.

My house was broken into and a number of items were stolen. Most of the police officers were great, and one of the seasoned detectives (around my age) was the best.
However there was one cop who stood around and made sexist, loutish insinuations; he was a basic thug. The only difference between the guy who smashed glass doors and this brute who pawed through my daughter's underwear drawer was that the latter wore a badge.
Yeah, I guess there's such a thing as being too attractive as a victim, as well.
That is one good article. They all should have been charged with manslaughter.
This only proves, once again, that there is law for cops and politicos, and law for everyone else.

is not true. Women are not victimized because they're young and attractive. They are victimized because they're women. Crime, especially sexual assault, happens to women of all ages.

I wasn't clear. I fully realize that I will always be a potential victim. It's just that justice is a little thin on the ground if one isn't an attractive victim.
Meanwhile, over at knitknut, zoom recounts an incident that involved bullying by a police officer. Note the exchange. They are trained to use this behaviour with those who have allegedly committed criminal acts. Observe how bystanders can become included in that category.
