This is quite an amazing spectacle as commenters keep adding links to stories about Harper and his puppets' complete disdain for democracy and Canadian values.
I was resistant to the idea of joining Facebook (and I've been getting snarked by internet pals now that I've relented) and I doubt I'll do anything with my account after this is over, but seriously, this really may be the beginning of something MASSIVE.
If you don't belong to Facebook, consider joining. At least, check out the wall.
And if any of your friends need further convincing, send them a link to this excellent column, Prorogation redux: Harper in contempt of Parliament, by Errol P. Mendes, professor of constitutional law.
A taste:
The highest duty of a Prime Minister of Parliament is to uphold the Constitution of Canada, which includes the rights and privileges of the House of Commons and the duties owed to the Queen's representative in Canada. Stephen Harper keeps on failing in his duties on both counts as evidenced by the second prorogation of Parliament on Dec. 30.
ADDED: Susan Delacourt on Popular protest.
UPDATE at 1:10 p.m. EST: Just blew past 139,000!
UPDATE at 2:30 p.m. EST: 140,000.
UPDATE at 4:30ish p.m.: 141,376.
UPDATE at nearly 8:00 p.m.: Over 144,000. Taking bets here. When does it hit 150,000? I'm taking noon tomorrow. Jump into the pool.

I'm not much of a joining either. Reactivated my FB account only to sign on to that Left Wing Fringe Group: Women and took my time about joining CAPP too (and yesterday, the Victoria rally group). But sign on I did, then sent invitations to my Canadian FB friends, all of whom also signed up.
Most gratifying to me are the discussions happening over there, on Facebook, but also elsewhere; discussion forums and the blogosphere are on fire. Canadians aren't just connecting, they're learning about things they'd previously been unaware of.
Our friend, Pale, has started a Prorogue FAQ over at ACR.
On another matter, do you know why I cannot paste into the comment window? It's driving me batshit crazy!
I don't know, TRM. It's never been a problem for me - what are you trying to paste in - text, links, what?
Quit doing this, I am now addicted to clicking the refresh search to watch the speed of the increase in numbers.,,,
And will the Regina Mom get back to us about the pasting problem, that is starting to bother me too.
145,000!
In the absence of any information about what exactly TRM wanted to paste into the comment box, I'm going to assume that it's a clickable link.
This is how you do it.
Insert the URL into the space that is framed by the quote marks, replace these brackets { } with these < > and voilà.

Past 146,000 members now. However, the proof will be in the pudding. How many will be motivated enough to brave the winter deep freeze to attend any of the rallies across Canada come January 23?
The Montreal planning meeting this monday evening only had 45 confirmed to attend and that's in a warm room. I am hoping many many more will attend the rally.
Anyhow, let's cross our fingers that Canadians don't slip back into apathy
Harper reached the tipping point last year with Montréal people with his attack on the arts. They're still angry at him, just not as furious as the rest of Canada now seems to be, in significant numbers.
