Bring It On!

After carefully explaining why the abortion issue in Canada is so toxic to political parties, Andrew Steele in the Glob suggests that the Ontario Conservatards take up arms over a parental notification law.

Wouldn't that be fun?

He lost me at "political cleavage".

LOL.

I think the Conservatards should go for the whole fundy megilla -- funding faith-based schools, outlaw abortion, income-splitting. We wouldn't have a Con government in Ontario for decades!

"Political cleavage"? Isn't that what keeps getting Silvio Berlusconi in hot water? Are we allowed to have that in Ontari-airy-airy-O!

Aren't kids legally the decision-makers at the age of 16?

I don't know, Antonia. Some research is called for.

Parental consent laws open up such ugliness. Incest. Abuse. Fundy parents who will disown the kid.

One hopes that young women have doctors they can confide in. Why the hell do we need to inject the state into that relationship?
